A medical practice in Lincoln has gained the the Quality Practice Award, recognising its high standard of patient care.
To get the award, Birchwood Medical Practice had to prove it could meet certain criterias, such as home care, disability services, accessibility, medicine management, health promotion and continuity of care.
Practice Manager Christine Thorpe explained: “After we provided evidence that we meet the Royal College of General Practitioners’ (RCGP) criteria, we received a visit from the RCGP to assess the practice, its facilities and services.
“During this visit the assessment team interviewed some of our patients and members of our patient participation group, as well as GPs and practice staff.
“We are delighted to have received this recognition from the RCGP.”
The Birchwood GP’ award on Jasmine Road will last for five years, after an eighteen month participating process.
Birchwood Medical Practice is part of the Optimus group of medical practices, all of which are taking part in the Quality Practice Award.

As people prepare to go out more in the run up to Christmas, a Lincoln woman who created the globally renowned Ask For Angela not-for-profit scheme is proud to have made the county, and the world, a safer place.
The scheme, launched by Hayley Crawford (pictured above) in 2016, aims to ensure that anyone who is feeling vulnerable or unsafe is able to get the support they need. This could be on a night out, a date, meeting friends and other situations, and it is available to everyone of all genders to help them feel safer.
