Canwick Road will be closing overnight as part of annual maintenance to check the tidal flow system traffic signals.
The busy eastern road will close overnight on August 24, and possibly on August 25 between 7.30pm and 5.30am.
Closure of the road means that there is a safer working area, as workers use mobile lifting platforms to get to the lights.
Diversions will be put in place for those driving along the route via the High Street.
Prinicipal Engineer, Tim Clark, said: “We’re carrying out some routine annual maintenance on the tidal flow system to make sure it’s working safely and efficiently.
“It is a key road in and out of the city, so we’re doing the work at night to keep disruption to an absolute minimum.”
