New Hilton hotel hunts for local experts

More jobs: The new Hilton hotel is looking for staff with good local knowledge of the city in order to help visitors make the most of their stay.

The DoubleTree Hilton Hotel being erected on Brayford Wharf North is offering jobs suited to local residents, who know Lincoln like the back of their hand.

The new hotel, due to open November 2011, is not only helping boost Lincoln’s economy but making use of Lincolnite’s knowledge within specific roles.

The hotel is currently looking for two part-time concierges to give advice to visitors on top attractions, landmarks and things to do the city.

General Manager Philip Walker said: “Although previous experience of the service industry would be ideal, we’re looking for candidates with the right personality who can help us to maintain exceptionally high standards.

“It’s an exciting time as the hotel is really starting to take shape and we’ve already received a lot of enquiries from individuals and companies wanting to make a booking.”

As well as concierge, there are around 70 other jobs the four-star hotel are currently filling, with hundreds applying for positions.

Once open, the Hilton will have 115 rooms (17 studio suites with balcony views), meeting and events spaces, gym and a rooftop bar and restaurant.

The most striking feature however is the panoramic glass lift, allowing visitors to view the south of the city as they go to their rooms or to relax.
