A shortlist of 50 potential torchbearers for Lincolnshire has been announced.
The London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) have announced which of the local nominees have got through to the next stage.
Nominated torchbearers will find out if they have been successful from December 5.
One nominated torchbearer from Lincoln is 12-year-old trampolinist Alice Meanwell (pictured). She is excited to have been selected:
“It feels really nice and I’m very proud. I was really happy when I was told.
“It shows that it’s not just older people that get nominated and shortlisted, but younger people can do it too.”
Councillor Doreen Stephenson, London 2012 Champion for Lincolnshire: “We are getting news that many of Lincolnshire’s top athletes have been shortlisted to carry the Torch on the Relay next year.
“I am delighted that so many individuals from Lincolnshire will have the chance to be involved in this once-in-a lifetime experience.”
Across the UK 28,000 people were nominated, with just 8,000 selected for the next step. Each nominee has a one in 14 chance of being a runner.
