Vote to make Lincolnshire top UK food spot

Vote for food: Lincolnshire is second after Cornwall in a poll for the best UK food spots — but your vote could change the outcome.

Lincolnshire produce on sale at The Big Pink Farm near Scunthorpe. Owner Sally Jackson will be the Face of British Food Fortnight 2011 from September 17 to October 2.

Tastes of Lincolnshire is urging people to back the county in a bid to make it Britain’s top food spot.

Lincolnshire is narrowly behind Cornwall at the moment, but a last minute surge could see the county take the crown before voting ends on September 11.

The competition has been created to promote British Food Fortnight’s 10th Anniversary, and the winner will be announced at the start of the celebrations.

Lincolnites can show their support online at lovebritishfood.co.uk/votefoodspot, where voting takes just seconds.

Mary Powell of Tastes of Lincolnshire said: “We need people to get online and get voting. We know Lincolnshire is the top food spot in the UK, and now’s our chance to get this recognised nationally.

“We have the freshest and tastiest local food – premium sausages, delectable pork pies and the famous Lincolnshire plumbread, best enjoyed with Lincolnshire Poacher Cheese.

“Add to that fields full of the finest vegetables, and what more could a food lover ask for?”
