Carholme Gala brings residents together

Cohesion: The Carholme Community Gala brought Lincoln residents and students together for one afternoon.

The annual Carholme Community Gala was held on Sunday, September 25, aiming to bring students and locals together.

Despite the rain, visitors could enjoy pony rides, sport activities and a bouncy castle on the West Common.

A short walk to St Faith’s Infant School allowed people to buy from the various local stalls or watch demonstrations from groups such as the university’s cheer leading squad.

The Gala was formally opened by the Mayor of Lincoln, Councillor Kathleen Brothwell.

Councillor for the Carholme Ward, Neil Murray said: “Boys, girls, mums, dads, grannies and granddads all have something on offer to them at the Gala this year.

“I’m really pleased with the community’s strong show of support again for this event which continues to go from strength to strength as we work with the Students’ Union and University more.”

The annual event is held from 2pm to 4pm, with some activities running longer. This year’s gala was organised by Councillor Karen Lee.
