Community group hunts for chairperson

Help needed: Community forum WERA is searching for a new chairperson, or faces closure.

WERA meets twice per year at St Faith’s Infant School on West Parade

A community association in Lincoln is looking for a new chairperson, else the group may have to close.

The West End Residents Association (WERA) is a public forum held twice annually, and allows locals within the Carholme Ward discuss issues.

Local councillors also attend the meetings in order to help resolve the issues.

However, WERA has to have a chairperson present in order to run the meetings, and the current chairperson is stepping down.

WERA is hoping someone in the local area will be able to fill the role to keep the association running.

WERA chairperson Natalie Atkin-Day said: “Basically we are looking for a person preferably someone who lives in the area.

“The person does need to have some time available to attend some of the meetings; most of them are usually outside normal office hours.

“They need to have email access as most people contact each other this way. I think enthusiasm is a must and organisation.

“Someone who cares about local issues and trying to make a difference but also can be impartial as there can be some very strong views from some of the residents.”

Anyone in the West End interested in taking up the position should contact WERA on the website or by contacting Natalie Atkin-Day via email.
