Fresh CCTV appeal over rape of deaf woman

Rape appeal: Police are still trying to identify a man who allegedly raped a young deaf woman in Lincoln last December.

Lincolnshire Police refreshed their appeal for information surrounding an alleged rape in Lincoln, after revealing the woman was in fact deaf.

A 22-year-old profoundly deaf woman was sexually assaulted behind Sippers Pub on Broadgate between 1:30am and 3:00am last year on December 18.

CCTV enquiries led police to believe the man pictured in the footage (above) was connected with the assault.

Officers are hoping that revealing the true extent of the attack will provoke a better response than the original appeal that failed to identify the man.

DI Dave Swan said: “Our initial press appeal did not reveal the true horror of this attack.

“It is only the bravery of the victim in allowing more personal information to be released that has enabled us to share this with the community.”

Police urge anyone who can identify the man to come forward to help bring the potential offender to justice.

“This offender deserves absolutely no loyalty. He may be a threat to other women and needs to be brought to justice as soon as possible,” said Swan.
