A new Argos store in Lincoln opened its doors for the first time on October 13, meaning residents in the uphill area no longer need to head to the High Street.

The new shop, based in a new unit of the Carlton Centre on Outer Circle Road, created 25 new jobs in the city.

To celebrate, Argos offered £10 gift cards to the first 100 visitors of the store.

As well as vouchers, residents in uphill Lincoln will be able to spot a special “digivan”, equipped with three screens, advertising the store opening.

Store manager Alex Forward said: “Today we are having the grand opening, so we’ve had lots of offers to try and get people to come in and enjoy their first experience the new Argos.

“We’ve given away free gift cards this morning and we’ve also got a deal on at the moment where if you spend over £50 you get two £5 vouchers, and spend over £100 you get two £10 vouchers.

“We’re really pleased to be here because it gives our customers another option of two stores in the city and we look forward to serving out customers on the east side of Lincoln.”

Marketing executive Emily Lewis added: “We have also got the two £10 voucher offer running on Saturday (October 15), as well as Lincs FM in store between 10am and 1pm running competitions and giving away vouchers.

“We’ll also have Peppa Pig coming in on Sunday [October 16] at various times of the day for the kids.”

She added: “In terms of the van, that was basically us wanting to bring in new media when traditionally we have just done normal ad van banners and billboards.

“This time we were looking around to see what newer media opportunities we can take in order to bring it to the next generation.”
