Kerbside Christmas tree collection dates announced

Tree collection: The Council has announced which dates it will be collecting Christmas trees and festive waste.

The City of Lincoln Council will be picking up residents’ real Christmas trees from kerbsides next month.

Residents should leave their tree on the kerb alongside their normal black bin collection time and date between January 9 and 20.

Trees collected during these two weeks will sent for composting. Those with green bins can also dispose of the tree that way, provided it is cut down for the lid to close.

Other festive waste such as wrapping paper, Christmas cards and glass bottles will be collected using the usual brown bin service.

Extra wast that cannot be fitted in the bin should be bagged, clearly marked as recycling, and placed next to the brown bin.

Caroline Pritchard, Community Services Manager at the City of Lincoln Council, said: “We’d like to encourage people to make the best use of their brown recycling bins over the festive season.

“Cardboard boxes, wrapping paper, unwanted Christmas cards, empty glass and plastic bottles and cans can all be recycled using this service.”
