Enterprising Lincoln mums Sarah Green and Shelagh Stevens joined forces to launch their own magazine.

Molly’s Guide is an A5 size magazine for parents and carers in Lincoln and Newark, which will be published four times a year to coincide with school terms.

The magazine is distributed through local primary schools and the first edition is out now, with a feature about Lincoln actor Colin McFarlane’s new history project.

Schoolchildren from Hartsholme Academy traced their roots, thanks to Lincoln actor Colin McFarlane (back, left), best known for Batman Begins and The Dark Knight and being the voice of ITV’s The Cube, and Dr Nick Barratt (back, right) of the BBC show Who Do You Think You Are?

Mum-of-one, Sarah Green, said: “We researched the market and found a need for a magazine of this type.

“Molly’s Guide will not only support the local community but also local businesses and we’re delighted with the response we’ve had from schools and advertisers for the first edition.”

Fellow director and mum-of-two, Sheelagh Stevens added: “We’re so fortunate to live in such a beautiful part of the country and to have so many fascinating places to visit on our doorstep and we’re delighted to be including these in Molly’s Guide.”

The first edition features an article looking at similarities between mothers and daughters, including one local mum whose daughter isn’t just following her footsteps as a teacher but also as a singer while another looks at top tips for step parenting.
