Model Lincoln graduate strikes a pose

Strike a pose: Michel Geraghty is set to take the fashion world by storm after modelling in a major campaign for a top clothing retailer.

Lincoln graduate Michel Geraghty has been featured on the cover of a leading fashion magazine.

The 21-year-old, who graduated last year with a degree in Architecture, appeared on the cover star of Drapers magazine, a leading fashion industry publication, and featured in TK Maxx’s re-branding exercise.

Michel first appeared on a catwalk as a model in the University of Lincoln’s annual Fashion Show, and since he has modelled in London shows, spent two weeks at the Milan shows, and has just shot a soon to be released look book celebrating the 30th anniversary of designer men’s clothing company Stone Island.

Michel explains: “I was interested in fashion throughout my time at university, combining my degree in Architecture with working as a stylist and for a luxury luggage label, and starting up my blog.

“I was in London with another model as his stylist and waiting outside the shoot for him when an agency scout asked me if I was the model.

“I didn’t plan to become a model, but just happened to be in the right place at the right time and things have escalated from there.

“I love modelling and fashion, but hope to pick up my career in architecture again in a few years’ time,” Michael explained.

Call for would-be models

Prospective models are being offered the chance to follow in Michel’s footsteps as the university is gearing up for this year’s Fashion Show.

Fashion Programme Leader Maria Manning said: “It is very gratifying for all of us in the Fashion department to know that Michel’s modelling career has taken off and we wish him all the very best for the future.

“In the meantime, we are offering again, the opportunity of invaluable catwalk experience to aspiring models living or working in the Lincolnshire area, at our next fashion show in May. Who knows who will be discovered next?”

A model casting event is being held on Wednesday, April 25, and people over the age of 18 and 5ft 8ins and above and size 10 to 12 (for females) and 6ft and above (for males) are being invited to try out. Models must be available for a rehearsal on 24 May and for the Shows on 25 May.
