Lincoln Pure Party closes in Clinton Cards teardown

Closed: A Lincoln Pure Party has closed down due to the company going into administration.

The Pure Party fancy dress and card shop in Lincoln is set to close due to Clinton Cards going into administration.

As previously reported, Clinton Cards called in administrators Zolfo Cooper and Peter Saville because it could not pay back a certain amount of a loan.

A drop in sales over the last few months also led to the card retailer’s demise.

Administrators announced 44 closures out of 350 stores this week, affecting 300 staff across the country.

Its Birthdays and Pure Party stores were the most hit, including the Pure Party store in the Waterside Shopping Centre.

The Lincoln store is already closed to the public.

Other Clintons and Pure Party stores in the county are currently unaffected by the closures.

In a statement, joint administrator Peter Saville said: “We have received expressions of interest from a number of third parties and are confident that the remaining retail estate will be better placed going forward.

“We are fully aware of the impact these closures will have and are working with a number of relevant agencies and third parties to assist employees affected by the store closures.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank all employees for their professionalism and dedication during this difficult time.”

The administrators are yet to find a buyer for the company.
