Children’s graves damaged in Lincoln cemetery

Vile act: Lincolnshire Police are hoping the perpetrators of an attack on children’s graves in a Lincoln cemetery come forward.

Lincolnshire Police are appealing for information after a number of children’s graves were damaged and interfered with last week in Lincoln.

The incidents are believed to have happened between March 10 and 16 in the Canwick Old Cemetery off Washingborough Road.

Inspector Mark Garthwaite said: “This is frankly disgusting, and can only have been perpetrated by someone with little or no morals, and certainly with no respect whatsoever for the child and their family and friends, and their feelings.

“I would urge anyone with information to pass it on to us and I would urge the culprit to look at themselves and come forward and admit that what they have done is totally wrong.

“Maybe we can shame them into doing so, although I doubt it,” Inspector Garthwaite added.

Anyone with information can call 101 quoting incident 251 of March 16, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
