Lincoln Crofton Road Rileys closes down

Shock closure: Regulars of the Rileys club on Crofton Road have been left stunned by its sudden closure.

A snooker club on the edge of Lincoln has closed its doors this week, due to “unforeseen circumstances”.

Rileys, the national sports bar chain which also has a club on Silver Street, closed the Crofton Road bar earlier in the week.

The club was due to host the Lincolnshire Darts Open competition on March 31, but this has since been cancelled.

The Rileys on Silver Street will remain open for business as usual.

According to Lincolnshire County Darts, which hosts its events at the closed club, future tournaments are on hold until an alternative is found.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire County Darts said: “Lincolnshire Darts committee members were advised by the management team at Rileys Crofton Road Lincoln that due to unforeseen circumstances Rileys Crofton road has been closed.

“This has come as a complete shock to all concerned at Lincolnshire Darts as there has been no indications of closure from Rileys.

“Rileys Silver Street Lincoln has offered its services for the mens and ladies super league teams for the rest of the season.

“During this frustrating time, Lincolnshire darts Committee would ask for everyone’s support and understanding.”

In the past, Rileys had gone into administration in 2009, but was bailed out by Valiant Sports. This did lead to 200 job losses due to the closure of 25 clubs across the country.
