BBC is filming for its popular Call the Midwife series at Lincoln Castle this week.

Crews set up at Lincoln Castle on Thursday, and they will be shooting for the show until Saturday, July 27.

The scenes shot at Lincoln Castle are likely to feature in the next series of the show. The last series finished this spring.

Filming trucks and gear are stationed outside Roman’s Palace restaurant near the entrance to the castle from Castle Square.

Lincoln Castle tweeted: “Filming at the castle today is occuring on a closed set. The castle is open to the public, but the filming is out of public sight.”

Call the Midwife is a BBC period drama series starring Jessica Raine and Miranda Hart, set in east London in the 1950s.

The first series started in 2012 and achieved very high ratings, making it the most successful new drama series on BBC One since 2001.
