Lincoln beach returns to City Square

Life’s a beach: Lincoln By The Sea will return to the city centre next week, with plenty of sand and entertainment. Just add some sunshine.

The weather may still need warming up, but that won’t stop Lincoln by The Sea returning to the city.

Lincoln BIG are getting ready to bring back the large free sand pit and Punch and Judy back to Lincoln over the summer holidays.

The popular annual attraction will make its way to the city centre on July 22 until August 31, available for use between 10am and 4pm.

Parents will be able to relax in deck chairs while the children play in the sand — brought in from Skegness — or play on fairground rides.

Nearby, families will also be able to grab refreshing snacks such as ice cream and chilled drinks.

On July 26 and 27, Punch and Judy will also be making its return to The Beach as part of Lincoln BIG’s Punch and Judy festival.

Shoppers might even spot a giant Mr Punch, Judy and baby on Lincoln High Street and St Mark’s.

The events are part of Lincoln BIG’s summertime events programme, which kicked off along the Brayford on July 4 with the Independence Day celebrations.

Lincoln BIG Events & Promotions Organiser Rachel Hanson said: “Families should look out for Professor John Thursby and his fellow Punch & Judy men, who will be spilling the beans on Mr Punch’s latest antics in shows taking place near The Beach in City Square, as well as in Lincoln High Street and on High Bridge.

“Marc Beuten, a puppeteer from Bruges, in Belgium, will also be introducing his marionettes to the crowds, with performances in City Square on both days.”
