Lincoln charity chips and quiz night raises over £650

ACT for SMA: Lincoln PR firm hosted a fish and chips quiz charity event, raising over £650 in the process.

Lincoln firm Shooting Star PR hosted a Quiz, Chips and Mushy Peas night in aid of the Ally Cadence Trust for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (ACT for SMA), and raised £667 in the process.

The event on Monday, November 11, at Burton Road Chippy, saw fifteen teams of four show their support for the Shooting Star’s 2013 chosen charity and enjoy a quiz, raffle and fish and chips meal.

ACT for SMA, founded in 2009, offers help and support to families living with the effects of Spinal Muscular Atrophy, a rare genetic muscle wasting disorder that affects around 1 in 6,500 children.

The Lincoln-based charity was set up by Karl and Emma Humphries in memory of their daughter Ally Cadence.

Prizes at the event were donated by local businesses and the quiz winners took home a case of 12 bottles of wine donated by Tim Downing of Pygott & Crone.

In the winning team were Nick Whyatt from POP Design, Gary Nugent, Maria Karaolides and Karolina Szynalska.

The Lincolnite team also took part and earned and honourable score of 55.

Director of Shooting Star PR, Jez Ashberry said: “We were delighted that the event was a sell out and raised £667 for the Ally Cadence Trust.

“Thank you to everyone who came along to support this worthwhile cause and to the team at Burton Road Chippy who hosted the evening and put on a fantastic meal for everyone.

“The quiz was so successful that we are planning to make it an annual event,” Jez added.
