Firearms recovered from land in Saxilby

Recovered firearms: Police have recovered firearms from a site near a Lincoln village.

A specialist firearms unit from Lincolnshire Police seized firearms near a Lincoln village on December 5.

The incident happened in the early hours, when the team of officers, dogs and Proactive Team officers executed a search warrant on land near Saxilby.

Two firearms were recovered on the site, and Vitalijs Trubacs (58), of Drinsey Nook, was arrested and charged with an offence of possession of a firearm without a certificate.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Lincoln Magistrates Court.

Chief Inspector Lee Pache said: “Regardless of the outcome of now active criminal proceedings, this was a safely executed, highly professional firearms operation aimed at ensuring community safety in Lincolnshire and I would like to thank my staff for the efforts.”
