Yellow warning of gales across Lincolnshire

Big breeze: The Met Office issued a weather warning for gales in the East Midlands.

The Met Office has issued another yellow warning for high winds in parts of Lincolnshire for December 27.

According to the weather forecasting service, the East Midlands should expect northeastwards gusts for the majority of the day.

The high wind, which could reach up to 80mph in some parts of the region, comes from area of low pressure developing over the Atlantic Ocean.

The low pressure brought with it gales and rain, causing amber warnings for some parts of the country.

The Met Office believes the worst winds in Lincolnshire were during the night, but could extend until Friday afternoon.

The forecaster warns: “The public should be aware of the potential for disruption, especially where the high winds are combined with heavy rainfall. Please watch for possible updates to this warning, especially those who have travel plans.”

At present, all local train operators are running a normal service.

The weekend is expected to be clear of any severe weather warnings.
