A Lincoln American-style smokehouse restaurant is celebrating its first year in business by launching its own signature BBQ sauce alongside a well-known local trader.

In a joint venture with local preserve maker Jenny’s Jams of Lincoln, Ribs ‘n’ Bibs in The Strait now offers its recipe bottled sauce to take home.

The ‘Brave Pig’ BBQ Mop sauce is already enjoyed as part of some menu options, like the house ribs.

The sauce will soon be joined by further flavours including cherry, chicken and burger.

The price is set as £3.25 each, or £6.00 for two 250ml bottles.

Restaurant owner Adam Morgan told The Lincolnite that the team had big plans for the future, with the first batch selling out after only three days.

“Merchandise is a huge part of American dining,” said Adam Morgan. “We have always wanted to sell our homemade sauces to take-away but our chiefs just don’t have the time.

“A lot of thought goes into our sauces and we travel to and from America regularly for inspiration, so are recipes are both authentic and original.

“When Jenny Smith approached us we leaped at the opportunity. Jenny’s Jams will reproduce our house recipe and bottle the product for us.

“We are also looking to deliver to major retailers in the city and hope to have the products available on the Ribs ‘n’ Bibs website in due course.

Jenny Smith said: “I am extremely excited to see the final product and I am looking forward to working on new exciting flavours.

“We have been working on the recipe with the Ribs ‘N’ Bibs team for about a year. It’s something that takes a lot of time. Getting the measurements right and making sure everything has gone through the necessary steps is essential.

“I regularly attend local farmers markets and plan to bring a number of bottles and a sample for shoppers in Lincoln to try.”
