Purse thefts: Police are warning shoppers to be vigilant after three incidents of purse thefts in Lincoln city centre.

Police are warning shoppers to be vigilant after three incidents of purse thefts in Lincoln city centre.

Two purses were stolen in the High Street area, and one near Lincoln Central Market.

All three incidents were reported on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 7.

The first incident (193) occurred on Lincoln High Street between 12.20 and 12.25pm.

The second incident (292) occurred near Lincoln Market Place at around 12.20pm.

The third incident (247) occurred at around 3.30pm on High Street.

A Lincolnshire Police spokesperson said: “To reduce your risk of becoming a victim never leave your handbag or bag unattended, and make sure your bag is kept zipped up rather than open so someone cannot simply dip into it.”
