Lincoln faces needed for shopping centre art piece

Your face here: A giant work of art, created from hundreds of photos of Lincoln people, will go on display at the Waterside Shopping Centre.

A giant art piece created from hundreds of photos of Lincoln residents will go on display at the Waterside Shopping Centre this summer.

The digital mosaic piece will feature some of the city’s most recognised faces alongside members of the public.

The installation forms part of a £9 million reconstruction of the centre.

A session photographer will be at the shopping centre between Tuesday, June 10 and Saturday, June 14.

The Mayor of Lincoln Councillor Brent Charlesworth and City of Lincoln Council’s Chief Executive, Andrew Taylor, will be among the first people to be snapped.

People of all ages are being sought to create the two giant showpieces, with shoppers, retailers and the Waterside’s staff also getting involved.

Once complete, the two 5m x 3m back-lit graphics, featuring hundreds of Waterside visitor faces will be on display on the High Street level of the centre for all to see.

Everyone who has their photo taken for the installation, will also be entered into a daily draw to win £50 of Waterside Shopping vouchers.

Roy Greening, General Manager for Waterside Shopping, said: “We’d love for everyone to get involved, from our customers to our retailers – we want to celebrate Lincoln, the Waterside and our whole community in a fun and contemporary project.”
