Items of significant personal value have been stolen from a Lincoln mum’s grave over the weekend.
Some time between Friday, August 8, and Sunday, August 10, two silver birds, a heart-shaped cast iron bird bath, a plant pot with flowers and a wind-charm were taken from the grave in Newport cemetery.
The theft was discovered during a visit to the cemetery at 4pm on August 10.
The grave belongs to a Lincoln woman Anne Goddard, who had passed away on June 24, and daughter Rachael is warning other visitors to the cemetery to remain vigilant.
She said: “My mum only passed away recently from a very long cruel illness, Alzheimer’s.
“Until we got a headstone sorted I placed these birds on where the headstone will be, I visit every weekend as my brother Jamie is also in there and has the identical items on his, which I am pleased to say are still in place.
“It’s a sad world we live in sometimes,” she said.
Police are asking for anyone who has seen the items or witnesses suspicious activity to contact the 101 number, quoting incident number 100 of August 11.
