A new Lincoln park & ride bus service is gearing up to shuttle visitors from the south of Lincoln to the historic uphill area of the city, in time for the opening of Lincoln Castle.
Three new specially branded buses, operated by PC Coaches of Lincoln, will run every 15 to 20 minutes from Whisby Garden Centre (off the Teal Park roundabout on the A46) to Newport in Lincoln.

A specially-commissioned video presentation will be shown on the shuttle buses. This has been designed to enhance the visitor experience and provide a fascinating insight into the Lincoln Castle Revealed project.
The uphill drop-off will be outside Newport Arch, a 500m walk from the entrance to Lincoln Castle through Bailgate.
As previously reported, tickets are now on sale for Lincoln Castle’s big reveal on April 1, after a £22 million restoration.
The park & ride service will cost £6 per car; covering both the parking charge and bus fare, and will be available seven days a week.
Gates to the garden centre open at 9am and the shuttle service will start each day at 9.25am. The last bus will arrive back at the car park at 7pm; gates close at 7.30pm.
Councillor Colin Davie, Executive Member for Economic Development at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “The new-look castle will attract more visitors to the city than ever before, so it’s important we have something in place to cope with that influx.
“This new service will help visitors get around more easily, and also take some of the pressure off the city’s roads and car parks.
“In addition, people using the bus can enjoy a specially-commissioned video presentation on the way, which will provide a fascinating insight into the Lincoln Castle Revealed project.”

Snooker can be a lonely and brutal sport, but that strive for perfection is what keeps Lincoln’s Steven Hallworth — the city’s only player to reach the professional level — coming back to the table, even when the angles are tight.
It’s been a whirlwind career for Steven Hallworth, Lincoln’s first and only snooker player to ever reach the professional stage.
In the world of art, where creativity knows no bounds, chainsaw wood sculpting stands out as a thrilling blend of danger and beauty. Imagine wielding a roaring chainsaw, not to fell trees, but to carve them into stunning works of art. This is not your average hobby; it’s an adrenaline-fueled artistic adventure that dates back to the 1950s.
Chainsaw sculpting transforms ordinary wood into extraordinary masterpieces, pushing the limits of what’s possible with a tool more commonly associated with lumberjacking. But this is no rough-and-tumble trade; it’s a craft requiring precision, skill, and a steady hand, where the risk only heightens the allure.
