Buses replace trains on Lincoln rail line this Easter weekend

Easter rail travel: People travelling by train between Lincoln and Peterborough are among those facing disruption due to engineering works this Easter weekend.

Due to scheduled engineering works on the rail line between Spalding and Sleaford, buses will replace trains this Easter weekend between April 3 and April 6.

The work closes the section of the line completely, causing disruption to service on the East Midlands Train Schedule between Lincoln and Peterborough.

A Network Rail spokesperson said: “Due to planned engineering works on the line to improve drainage and renew track between Sleaford and Spalding, rail replacement buses will be in operation between these stations on Saturday, April 4 and Monday, April 6. Rail services on these days will operate separately from Doncaster to Sleaford and Spalding to Peterborough.”

The 2026 Leicester to Lincoln service will also be replaced by a bus between Newark Castle and Lincoln at 2155 on Saturday, April 4.

Full replacement timetables can be found here.

Rail users across the country over the Easter weekend period are being warned of major engineering works affecting journeys, with travel times expected to take longer than usual.
