City of Lincoln Council garden waste scheme returns for third year

Waste collection: Lincoln residents can now sign-up for the new garden waste collection service year.

Lincoln residents can now sign-up for the new garden waste collection service year. Almost 17,000 city households signed up for the service last year.

This will be the third year the City of Lincoln Council scheme has run, with prices frozen at £25 for the first bin, and £10 per additional bin, up to a maximum of four.

Those who pay for the scheme will be sent information and a sticker that needs to be placed on the green bin ready for the 2015-16 service, which starts on July 1.

The garden waste collection service accepts grass cuttings, leaves, hedge trimmings (max 2.5cm diameter), flowers and plants, twigs (max 2.5cm diameter) and weeds.

Steve Bird, Assistant Director for Communities and Street Scene, said: “We were very pleased with the number of households that took part last year and hope they found the service good value for money and will be signing up again.

“Certainly interest in the service remains strong and satisfaction ratings high. We are delighted that we can continue to offer the service at this price for yet another year.”

People can sign up by visiting the city council website, or by calling the garden waste payment line on 01522 873255.
