Police appeal after man seriously injured in A46 Lincoln crash

Crash after altercation: A man has been seriously injured after he was hit by a car on the A46 Lincoln bypass on Friday afternoon.

A 36-year-old man is in a serious but stable condition after he was hit by a car on the A46 Lincoln bypass on Friday afternoon.

Police were called to the incident at around 2.15pm on May 1 on A46 Newark Road, close to the Pennells roundabout.

It is believed the injured man, who is from the Louth area, was driving a black BMW X5 and was involved in an altercation with two men in a black Volkswagen Golf that was travelling in the same direction, towards Whisby.

Both vehicles turned left at the roundabout and came to a stop and the victim got out of his vehicle. Shortly after he was injured in a collision.

The injured man has been taken to Queen’s Medical Centre where he is in a serious but stable condition, Lincolnshire Police said.

The two men in the Volkswagen have been found and are currently helping police with their enquiries.

Police investigating the incident have appealed to anyone who may have seen the vehicle in which he was travelling before the crash.

In particular they would like to hear from anyone who may have seen the vehicles just before the collision, or as they came to a standstill.
