A 19-year-old father who was killed in a two-vehicle collision in Metheringham near Lincoln has been named by police as Sam Powell, from Horncastle.
As previously reported, the crash on the B1189 [as opposed to the B1188 as previously stated by police] happened in the evening of May 19.
Emergency services attended and Sam was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering serious injuries.
Sam had been driving a Volkswagen Polo when he was involved in a crash with a Volkswagen Golf, driven by a 52-year-old man from the Walcott area.
The driver of the Golf was taken to Lincoln County Hospital. He did not however have any serious injuries.
An inquest into Sam’s death has been opened and adjourned in the last week.
Friends and family have been paying tribute to the Lincolnshire teenager in the time since the fatal collision.
Sam’s partner Emily Eastgate wrote on social media: “Rest in peace my gorgeous boy. No one will ever feel the way I’m feeling right now, I’ve lost the other half of me. Lily misses you more than words can describe, I just don’t know how it’s ever going to get better. Love you forever, me and your babies.”
Penny Marie Carey wrote: “RIP Sam, this is killing me so, my heart breaks for all your family. You are, and always will be, a big part of my life. I could never forget you; How could I? You were infectious and everyone you met loved you.”
In a post on Facebook, Clarrisa Britton wrote: “RIP Sam, you were a beautiful person, always made me smile with your annoying laugh! I’ll never forget you… It doesn’t seem real.”
Caroline Grundy added: “So sad, taken too soon and too young. You’ve left your partner and babies but you will be able to watch over them up above. RIP young man, my thoughts go out to Emily Eastgate, your baby and the rest of your family and friends.”

In the space of just a few months, Scunthorpe United have gone from potentially having nowhere to call home to now looking ahead to many more memories at Glanford Park, after a community interest company secured the Iron’s home for years to come.
Glanford Park has been bought by a not-for-profit company called The New Show Ground CIC, which has secured a deal that is anticipated to create around 100 jobs from developments around the ground, as well as 150 homes for older residents and people with complex needs.
North East Lincolnshire has become the first upper-tier council to approve a devolution deal for Greater Lincolnshire, despite multiple concerns raised by opposition members.
Councillors voted on the deal, which would see a mayor elected for a new authority covering Lincolnshire, North and North East Lincolnshire authorities. This new setup will control funding for housing, job creation, and public transport, including buses.
