Peaceful demonstrations: Look back over the EDL anti-Islam and Lincoln Against Racism and Fascism marches in Lincoln on July 25.

No arrests were made as two protests held in Lincoln city centre passed relatively peacefully on July 25.

Between 150 and 200 English Defence League members visited Lincoln to object to the construction of the city’s first ever mosque.

A similar number from Lincoln Against Racism and Fascism took part a counter-demonstration, chanting “When the far right spread their racist lies, we fight back and organise.”

Officers from Lincolnshire Police were joined by colleagues from Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Northamptonshire to prevent any trouble.
