Portland Street to partially close until October

East West Link works: One lane of Portland Street in Lincoln is to be closed until the start of October due to works as part of the East West Link Road scheme.

One lane of Portland Street in Lincoln is to be closed until the start of October due to works as part of the East West Link Road scheme.

Work to pavements and kerbs will mean the westbound lane of Portland Street will need to be closed until October 2 and the left-hand turn from Canwick road onto Portland Street will be blocked.

Vehicles will still be able to head east on Portland Street and onto Pelham Bridge.

A diversion route for those wishing to travel westbound will be signed throughout the works.

Executive member for highways and transportation, Councillor Richard Davies, said: “The East West Link Road will play an important part in relieving congestion in Lincoln by removing the need for cars to cross the busy level crossings which currently cause delays.

“It will also help to facilitate the regeneration of the Tentercroft Street and former coal yard areas of the city.”
