Patients at Lincoln County Hospital will benefit from faster and more effective treatment following a £950,000 investment in x-ray equipment.

United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust has upgraded its facilities in Lincoln and at the John Coupland Hospital in Gainsborough, with both units now providing fully digital x-ray images and radiography.

The new equipment will help doctors to provide faster diagnoses and to access the information at the touch of a button.

Radiology services manager Paul Clark said: “We have just installed the latest digital radiography systems on the market.

“Digital radiography does not require film or processing in a separate room, all the technology is inside the x-ray cassette.

“The image is processed and available to view within three seconds of taking the x-ray.

“The benefits to patients are significantly better image quality with ultimately a quicker, higher quality imaging service at lower patient radiation doses.”
