Extra buses scheduled as thousands prepare for Lincoln Christmas Market

Christmas Market buses: With thousands of shoppers expected to descend on the city for this year’s Lincoln Christmas Market, bus operators have promised extra services to help beat congestion.

With thousands of shoppers expected to descend on the city for this year’s Lincoln Christmas Market, bus operators have promised extra services to help beat congestion.

This year’s four day market will run from Thursday, December 3 until Sunday, December 6, featuring over 300 stalls in historic uphill Lincoln.

Stagecoach East Midlands has timetabled extra busses and extended services as a way for people to travel to the market.

Bus services 7 and 8 will serve the market with extra journeys provided in the evening. All services will run between Stand A at the City Bus Station and Pottergate at the cathedral.

Thursday and Friday, between 9.05am and 6.15pm services 7 and 8 will operate every 10 minutes to and from the bus station and the Christmas market. Between 6.30pm and 9.45pm, service 7 will operate every 15 minutes.

On Saturday, between 9.05am and 3.05pm, services 7 and 8 will operate every 10 minutes and between 3.05pm and 9.15pm every 15 minutes.

On 

Sunday, between 9.30am and 5.45pm, service 7 will operate every 15 minutes with the exception of two trips at 1pm and 1.45pm.

Fares will be £1.15 for an adult single and £2.20 return. A child’s single will cost 60p and £1.10 return. Lincoln Dayrider Plus, Megarider Plus and Megaconnect tickets can also be used.

Claire McDowell, Principal Events and Culture Officer for the City of Lincoln Council, said: “Using the local bus services from Stagecoach are a hassle free way to travel to the market. We hope that both locals and visitors take advantage of the services including the park and ride from the Lincolnshire showground.
