Emergency services dealing with fire at Lincoln business

Major fire: Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue are dealing with a major fire off Newark Road in Lincoln.

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue are dealing with a major fire off Newark Road in Lincoln.

Reports indicate the fire is behind the Evans Halshaw unit on Murdock Road at Lithuanian Motors.

It’s believed to have started at around 4.25pm.

Update: 5.45pm

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue have extinguished the fire. Appliances attended from Lincoln north and south, Waddington and North Hykeham.

Dan Marsland from Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue said: “An aerial ladder was used from Lincoln south and around 30 officers attended.

“One person has been taken to hospital.

“The fire has been extinguished using one main jet and the aerial ladder.

“A fire investigation is now going to take place. As yet the cause is unknown.

“An electric fuse box could be heard making shot sounds in the fire.”

Road restrictions are in place in the Newark Road area and the road from St Catherine’s is closed. Drivers are being advised to take alternative routes.

People and businesses in the area are reporting sightings of a “massive fireball” at the time the fire broke out.

Huge plumes of black smoke are filling the area.

Kiera Williams told The Lincolnite: “My mum witnessed it go up in a massive fireball as she drove past at 4.25pm”
