Several delays: Rail passengers are facing major disruptions between Sleaford and Peterborough due to a broken down train.

Rail passengers are facing major disruptions between Sleaford and Peterborough due to a broken down train.

An East Midlands Train has broken down at Spalding, disrupting journeys on the Peterborough / Lincoln / Doncaster route.

The line is currently closed towards Peterborough.

A rescue train has arrived on site at the time of writing and is coupling the broken down train to allow it to move.

Disruption is expected to last until 3pm.

This travelling on the route are advised that there will be disruption between Sleaford and Peterborough until the broken down train is able to be moved.

Replacement transport has been arranged for the cancellation of 1511 Peterborough to Lincoln Central.

An East Midlands Trains spokesperson said: “People able to use rail tickets on Stagecoach buses number 37 between Spalding and Peterborough in both directions.

“They are able to travel on other operators trains between Peterborough and Newark Northgate.

“We are very sorry for the disruption to your journey today.”
