What are the main issues affecting your ward, and how would you address them if elected as a city councillor?

There are many issues affecting my ward, including traffic congestion, street cleaning and parking. However there must be numerous issues affecting the residents of Boultham ward that I am unaware of. Therefore by holding regular advice surgeries with the residents I would be closer to local issues, and able to assist with resolutions.

What makes you different to the other candidates in your ward?

Having lived in the Boultham area for over 30 years, I am known by my associates to be a “sayer and a doer”. This is important in my opinion as it’s pointless listening and doing nothing. A planned and professional approach to issues and problems means achievement in our local area.

On a personal note I have a passion for music of any genre, but in particular “Northern Soul” music. There is a huge following across Lincoln of which I am a regular supporter. Nice people, listening and dancing to amazing music and having a great time.

What are the main issues affecting your ward, and how would you address them if elected as a city councillor?

1. Ensuring the ward is safe and clean, bringing this to fruition by working with the Police and Council agencies.

2. Listening to residents problems and concerns, helping were possible by sign posting and engaging with other services.

What makes you different to the other candidates in your ward?

Not knowing the candidates from other parties, it is not possible for me to comment on them personally.

Fellow candidates from the same party and ward (Gary and Ralph) I don’t have any differences with. We work together as a team, for the benefit and advancement of Boultham Ward.

I have been a blood donor since 1975. On April the 14th 2016 I donated my 48th pint.

What are the main issues affecting your ward, and how would you address them if elected as a city councillor?

For many Boultham residents the traffic congestion on Tritton Road, Skellingthorpe Road and Dixon Street has a large negative impact on their lives, whether they are walkers, cyclists or drivers, or at home waiting for deliveries or visitors. Any development of the Swanpool or brownfield sites need to be planned carefully so not to impact on this further. For this issue, as with all others, I would work in conjunction with council members and officers, at City and County Hall, and across the private and voluntary sectors to seek solutions, using my networking abilities and passion for evidence-led policy making.

What makes you different to the other candidates in your ward?

That’s a difficult question to answer honestly and without sounding contrite. In my experience most candidates and elected politicians are committed to working hard for their constituents, although with varying degrees of success. I’d like to think I’m able to put aside political or other differences and work with others to achieve the best outcomes for people and places. I would encourage and support individuals, businesses and charitable organisations to ensure our neighbourhoods are sustainable and enable people to access goods and services locally, make friends and build community.

What are the main issues affecting your ward, and how would you address them if elected as a city councillor?

Boultham ward contains the area most commonly known as Swanpool, serious questions need to be asked to the council if building hundreds of new house on this flood plain would actually alleviate the housing issue in Lincoln, or just put homes at risk from flooding and increase the traffic in the area.

I’ve also had feedback from young children that Boultham Park has no slide. If elected I would campaign to see one return.

What makes you different to the other candidates in your ward?

A liberal who has previous experience on the council and as a governor at a local primary school. Always ready to report issues to the relevant authority when walking around the City whether it be fly tipping, bad parking, broken drains or faulty street lights.

My background in technology allows me to extract data from systems whether it’s water levels or planning applications to be ahead in knowledge of the local area.

What are the main issues affecting your ward, and how would you address them if elected as a city councillor?

I will support our area by pushing for further investment and improvements by representing your interests to the best of my ability on Lincoln City Council.

What makes you different to the other candidates in your ward?

Having worked for over 32 years in a government department here in Lincoln, I am duly qualified to fight for excellent local services for residents in the Boultham area.

What are the main issues affecting your ward, and how would you address them if elected as a city councillor?

Parking issues outside schools and some streets. Look to resolve with better enforcement and give residents a chance to consider residents parking Boultham Park Project.

Resolve by working with the Advisory Group to pressure the Heritage Lottery to release funding.

What makes you different to the other candidates in your ward?

I don’t know most of the other candidates, but me and my fellow Labour Candidates do all live in the ward and do try to make contact with residents on the doorsteps to speak to them personally.

One of our dogs nearly drowned me when I slipped in the river trying to find him when he ran off and it took 3 people to pull me up the embankment.

What are the main issues affecting your ward, and how would you address them if elected as a city councillor?

If elected I would oppose even the latest plan for building houses on the Swanpool floodplain area, as this would have an impact on the traffic congestion in the ward. I would support Boultham park and ensure the council kept investing in it for the ward residents. I would push for a Park and ride scheme for the City, built on the floodplain if necessary, it makes more sense and would reduce the traffic around the City.

What makes you different to the other candidates in your ward?

What makes me and all UKIP councillors different from the main party candidates is our ‘No whip policy’, this means we can vote in the council chamber as the voters of Boultham want, not having to follow a party line. This makes UKIP councillors unique and free to follow their conscience. Lincoln UKIP county councillors have a 100% attendance record and we intend to bring that commitment to the City council, if elected.

What are the main issues affecting your ward, and how would you address them if elected as a city councillor?

If elected to the Boultham ward I would aim to be involved with committees which would benefit issues and concerns which affect the area, such as housing, crime and traffic. I would also like to concentrate on the heritage of our beautiful city of which the Boultham area has played a large and important part of.

I would try to ensure that families with children are represented properly and that facilities such as nurseries, play areas and youth centres are fit for purpose and that there are facilities in place for the older people in the area.

What makes you different to the other candidates in your ward?

I feel that women are woefully under represented on the city council and by being elected to the Boultham ward, I could start to redress this and at the same time begin to ensure that issues which effect women and families in particular are be highlighted. As a mother of four I feel that I am suited for this task.

As a mature student I feel that I can understand the needs and concerns of the students in Boultham, and feel able to be in a position to help them.
