A 26-year-old man has been remanded in custody for burglary and robbery offences in Gainsborough.

Michael Edward Lewis, 26 of Riseholme Road in Gainsborough appeared at Lincoln Magistrates Court yesterday (Monday, August 1).

He was charged with four burglaries and two robberies and will reappear at court again on Tuesday, August 30.

The burglaries took place in Waterworks Street, Caenby Close, Wheeldon Street and Elsham Walk.

The robberies occurred in Primrose Street and Trinity Street.

Simon Outen, Inspector for Gainsborough, said: “This man has been charged for a series of offences which have left people out of pocket and without valued possessions.

“Due to the seriousness and volume of these crimes, officers have continued to pursue him on a daily basis and are pleased that he has been remanded in custody, bringing a respite to the local community from his actions.”
