The Red Arrows have returned to base after their first display at The Isles of Scilly – but they had to leave one behind.

Upon departing from the Maritime Gathering on Monday, August 29, one of the jets was involved in a mid-air collision with a bird, forcing it to divert to Cardiff Airport to check for damage.

The remaining eight members of the team, along with their photo aircraft, returned to RAF Scampton near Lincoln.

The Red Arrows later tweeted that members of the crew were unhurt.

The Red Arrows performed at three different venues this Bank Holiday weekend, with The Isles of Scilly Maritime Gathering being the last display.
