Council officers have discovered dog mess smeared on the windows and walls of a Sutton Bridge house, after evicting a family from the property.

South Holland District Council’s eviction team found the property on Prince’s Street in a state of complete disrepair, with doors and walls damaged and the garden overgrown and littered.

The council used a High Court Enforcement Order for the first time ever to remove the family after breaches of their tenancy were revealed.

This allowed five bailiffs to move quickly to evict the tenants without any warning.

The house has since been boarded up so repairs can be carried out.

Councillor Christine Lawton, South Holland District Council’s portfolio holder for housing, said: “This case should send a strong message out that disruptive behaviour by our tenants will not be tolerated.

“The usual process of going through the County Court to get an eviction order can take time as you have to build a solid case.

“Given the serious nature of this case, the team felt that swift and efficient action was the only solution and successfully obtained our first ever High Court eviction order at good value to the taxpayer.

“The team have since been contacted by several thankful neighbours, with one family saying they are now sleeping peacefully for the first time in ages.

“We would urge anyone affected by disruptive tenants to contact our housing team.”
