A man remains in police custody after being seen with a knife near a primary school in Grimsby.

Police were called at 8.49am on Thursday, October 13 following reports of a man in the area with a knife near Woodlands Primary School.

Officers attended and a 35-year-old man was arrested on a public order offence at 8.59am.

Children have been kept inside the school on Pinewood Crescent throughout the day as a precaution.

The man remains in police custody and Humberside Police’s Community Policing Team will be conducting reassurance patrols in the area.
