Giant-killers Stamford AFC have reached the FA Cup 1st round for the first time in their 120-year history after dumping former Football League side Wrexham out in front of their own fans.

Stamford, who play in the Northern Premier League First Division South, beat the Welsh club 3-2 after extra time in the 4th qualifying round replay on Tuesday, October 18.

The Daniels will now travel to League Two side Hartlepool United, who are four divisions above them, on Saturday, November 5.

Goals from Lee Beeson and Kern Miller had put Stamford in control in North Wales, before Wrexham pulled two late goals back to force the tie into extra time.

However, Jake Duffy’s extra time free kick sealed Stamford’s place in the 1st round, something the club has not achieved since it was formed in 1896.

A jubilant report on the club’s website said: “Nobody knows what fortunes await the Daniels at the next hurdle but at this moment in time it’s unlikely anyone really cares!

“Tonight is a night to savour the moment and the journey thus far and to continue to dream of just where this magical road might end.”

Lincoln City FC will also be representing the county in the FA Cup after overcoming fellow Conference side Guiseley 2-1 in a replay on Tuesday.

The Imps will now entertain Conference North side Altrincham at Sincil Bank.
