A woman has been killed after being hit by a train in Spalding.

Shortly before 8.20am on Saturday, October 8, police were called to the line close to Green Lane, Spalding after reports a person was struck by a train.

Officers from British Transport Police (BTP) and Lincolnshire Police attended alongside paramedics, however, a 28-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

The woman’s death continues to be treated as unexplained whilst officers from BTP and Lincolnshire Police examine how she came to be on the tracks.

A post mortem examination is due to take place later this week.
