A Lincoln film maker has released touching footage of a service held earlier this year in the Lincoln Castle grounds alongside the arrival of the iconic Poppies:Wave sculpture.

Over 300 school children joined around 1,200 visitors and honoured guests in marking the centenary of the Battle of the Somme on Friday, July 1.

As a AH2 WWI replica soared overhead in tribute to the 19,240 men who died in battle in 1916, the school children created their own poppies wave on the banks of the castle grounds.

Matthew Lee Automotive Photographer told The Lincolnite: “I want along with C1 Media to film the Battle of the Somme Commemorations and I’ve just uploaded the video.

“I travel the country creating films for businesses and events, but the children’s poppy wave at Lincoln Castle was a truly beautiful, moving experience unlike anything I’ve filmed before.
