Storm Doris has wreaked havoc across large parts of Lincolnshire, leaving properties without power, roads blocked and trees falling onto highways, parked cars and even homes.

Gusts of over 50mph battered the county from early on the morning of Thursday, February 23, continuing well into the afternoon and evening.

Lincolnshire Police received a call every two minutes over storm-related incidents, while fire crews dealt with over 70 incidents.

High winds take toll on county’s trees

The storm brought parts of the county to a standstill as it caused a number of trees to fall, blocking roads and narrowly missing one motorist in Spalding.

Several major Lincolnshire A roads were closed or blocked as a result of trees falling down.

Power cuts

Over 6,000 properties in the south of Lincolnshire have also been without power after Storm Doris caused trees to fall, destroying power lines.

Properties were affected in the Boston, Spalding, Woodhall Spa, Bourne and Holbeach areas.
