A 38-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a fatal crash on the A1 at Newark.

As previously reported, a 52-year-old man died at the scene in the six-vehicle crash at 7.55am on Thursday, March 9.

Another man – the driver of one of the lorries – was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham by air ambulance for treatment for his injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening.

A woman was taken to hospital by ambulance and three other men were treated for their injuries at the scene.

Their injuries are not believed to be life threatening or life altering.

Officers are continuing to investigate the collision and are appealing for anyone who witnessed it or who captured it on a dashcam, to contact them quoting incident 137 of March 9.
