Lane closures on Greetwell Road in Lincoln have been extended to allow for additional resurfacing works to be carried out.
The current eastbound lane closure from the mini-roundabout south of Wickes to Greetwell Hollow will be subject extra closures on the mini-roundabout and more complicated utility diversion works.
The works, which also include increasing westbound capacity at the second mini roundabout south of Wickes and improving safety and drainage at Greetwell Hollow, are now expected to be complete on Sunday, May 14, subject to reasonable weather conditions.
The signed diversion route for the closure will continue to be via Outer Circle Road, Wragby Road, Hawthorne Road, Croft Lane and Church Lane. Road users are asked to adhere to the diversion route.
Greetwell Road will remain open to westbound traffic into Lincoln, except for week commencing May 7, when full night-time closures of Greetwell Road will be in place between 8pm and 5am to complete surfacing works.
The full road closure of Greetwell Fields (locally known as the bunny run), which connects Greetwell Road to St Augustine Road, will remain in place for the duration of the works.
Access to businesses and residences will be maintained throughout; Lincolnshire County Council has however apologised for any inconvenience caused.
The Greetwell Road improvements are part of Lincoln Eastern Bypass preparatory works and will prepare Greetwell Road, south of the mini-roundabout near Wickes, for an increase in traffic once the bypass is complete.
When the bypass is opened in 2019, a new roundabout that connects Greetwell Road to the Bypass will be opened.
