A four-year-old boy is in a “serious but stable” condition after being hit by a truck in Holbeach over the weekend.

The incident happened at around 12.50pm on Saturday, May 27 at a Tesco car park on Boston Road South.

It is believed the young boy was riding a scooter when he was hit by a Proton pick-up truck.

The boy was then airlifted to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham for treatment, where he remains in a “serious but stable condition.”

A spokesperson for the Tesco store posted on their Facebook page: “A big thank you to our customers and colleagues who helped out during an incident in our car park on Saturday and to those who have enquired since.

“The little boy was quite seriously hurt but is recovering in hospital and although it will take some time is expected to make a full recovery.

“His mummy sends her heart felt thanks too!”
