With the general election taking place on Thursday, June 8, Lincolnshire Reporter has created a guide to the dates and info you need to know.

Theresa May announced the snap general election on April 18 after claiming that divisions at Westminster risked Brexit negotiations.

Can I vote?

You must be registered to vote, 18 or over, a British, Commonwealth or EU citizen and not legally excluded.

Anyone wishing to vote in the general election who has not registered before must register by 11:59pm on May 22.

Anyone wishing to vote by post at the election, completed postal vote applications must be received by 5pm on May 23.

What will happen on election day?

Polling stations will be open from 7am until 10pm.

Those already registered to vote will receive a poll card from May 8 to inform them of their polling station.

The counts

The counting process will be managed by district councils and will take place at the following venues from 10pm:

When will we know the results?

Results will be published live by The Lincolnite and Lincolnshire Reporter websites and on social media.
