Three impressive aircraft have been added to the line-up for the 2017 Scampton Air Show, complimenting flying displays of military jets, historic warbirds, civilian display acts and the world famous RAF Falcons.
All will join the RAF Red Arrows at their Scampton base between September 9 and 10.
Organisers announced on Wednesday, May 10 that the Muscle Biplane G-EWIZ, the Douglas A-1 Skyraider and the RotorSport Calidus will be making appearances at the highly anticipated event.
The Muscle Biplane G-EWIZ
Originally designed by Curtis Pitts and first flown in 1945, the Muscle Biplane G-EWIZ is a Pitts S2S and one of only 30 aircraft of this type ever built.
With top speeds of 200mph, its pilot, Rich Goodwin, will be feeling the strain as he pulls up to plus six and minus 5 ‘G’ in his dynamic flying routine.
Richard said: “I’m delighted to be performing at the Scampton Airshow. It is a return visit to the airfield for me, as I visited in 2015 to do a display forThe Red Arrow which was a huge honour.”
Airshow Director Paul Sall added: “Rich Goodwin’s Muscle Biplane has an evocative paint scheme and provides one of the best and most dramatic flying displays on the circuit. This is guaranteed to be an exhilarating aerial display!”
The Douglas A-1 Skyraider
The Douglas A-1 Skyraider is a single seat attack aircraft used from the 1940s to the 1980s. It was often operated from aircraft carriers and was successfully used by the US Navy, US Marine Corps, US Air Force, Royal Navy and other operators.
The RotorSport Calidus
The RotorSport Calidus, a tandem two-seat aircraft, designed in Germany three years ago, will showcase its amazing manoeuvrability from this rarely seen aircraft type.
This unique machine is part helicopter, part light aircraft and will be flown by Peter Davies, who has over 2,500 hours flying gyrocopters and holds many achievements and records in a variety of aircraft.
Scampton Airshow tickets can only be purchased in advance at www.scamptonairshow.com. Tickets are priced at £39 with all under 16s able to enjoy the airshow free when accompanied by an adult ticket-holder.
