A rucksack containing a laptop, iPhone and wallet with cash and cards has been stolen from a train at Grantham railway station.

British Transport Police have said that a man boarded that 7.33pm service from London Kings Cross to Leeds on Thursday, 4 May and sat in Coach E before placing his rucksack in the overhead luggage rack.

When he checked on his bag at Doncaster he realised it had disappeared.

After viewing CCTV from the train a man, who was travelling with a friend, took the bag, before both men left the train at Grantham.

They then both boarded the 8.59pm service to Nottingham.

The following a day an attempt was made to use one of the victim’s cards in Nottingham.

A BTP spokesperson said: “We’d like to speak to the man in the image, as we believe he could help with our enquiries into this theft.

“If you know him or have any information, please call us on 0800 40 50 40 or text 61016, quoting reference 341 of May 26.”
